An appealing  presentation by Sujata Mishra begins with a sentence which intends to show how teachers avoid to work in some areas because of various reasons.  This video is solution or Answer. And that answer too comes in a very fine sentence “A teacher that can be replaced by a machine should be.” Throughout the presentation we get to know about his project/ Experiment which he started with a name  ‘ The Hole in the wall ‘ from  1999 to 2001. The general motive behind all this work done by him was to see how computer changes education and learning process.

New Delhi , Rajasthan, Tamilnadu,  Combodia, He travelled all over these places to find the difference. The responses were all same that there was tremendous change in learning pace and numerical facts I mean marks..:). Children learn if they are taken to that stage where they themselves want to learn. That can be said when he left some questions unanswered in that Telugu village. Their interest makes education possible. How rapidly students can adapt technology ! we saw that. The funny part “ Method of Grandmother”, indicates and teaches us what we should do when we are in actual classroom. Push them towards goal not physically but with the help of these motivational words J. That was the purpose behind SOLE, really this Self organized Learning Environment do matters in education. Students themselves found that ; How and why dinosaur die ? Means  ‘Perche sono scomparsii dinosaur ?.. Italian is interesting. Making students eager and eager to know and work always works.

In the end he concludes with a sentence ‘ Education is a Self organizing system, where learning is an emergent phenomena. Yeah, true actually this phenomena becomes possible only because of our inner voice, don’t take this in philosophical way it’s just our wants to learn something.

A video presentation on Web 2.0 by Graham Stanley talks about recent changes in Education system. How this technology and gadgets have replaced traditional chalk and talk method. In the initial minutes it makes us aware about web 2.0, tools and what he is going to present in next few minutes. In his words web 2.0 makes the whole world a global classroom. Anyone from anywhere can be part of education and contribute his/her ideas, thoughts etc.

As the video proceeds we get to know four tools; Blogs, Wiki, Podcast and videos. Basically all the four tools provide lots of opportunities and freedom. Talking about Blogs where teacher can use it as classroom or Display Board where we display our students work. Here, students can share and ask. Wiki is for those who want to contribute something. Wiki is sort of collaborative work. It has one good thing and that is some revised function. We can say it’s an open book where everyone can read and one can edit it too. BIG thumbs up for that. Podcast is one step ahead in this which has function of podcasting one’s voice. We can imagine how helpful it can be in phonetics, Pronunciation practice, or discussion. So one way to another all the tools have taken teaching learning process to whole new level. Lastly  videos which makes this process lively.

Well, in the end I would say web 2.0 is a ladder towards quality education. No bars of place, Time. All the scholars, students, teachers comes together with the help of Internet. Bit confused over this virtual world thing… Hope some comment or next lecture will help me out with that.
